BUT
THE WHOLE THING STARTS WITH THE ARTWORK
A customer either brings in a finished, separated, ready to burn onto screens type of art
(No really, that did happen once)!
Or they have an idea for our art department to finalize.
The artwork is separated into the individual colors to be printed.
Transparent film positives are made.
The screens are coated with a UV reactive emulsion that is used to create the stencil.
The clear transparency with a single print color is placed on the prepared screen.
This screen and transparency are now exposed to UV light for a few minutes.
The screens are pressure washed to remove any emulsion from the areas of screen that were protected by the artwork.
Once the screens are prepared they are lined up one at a time on the press until the registration lines up exactly, And now the actual screen printing can start.
Once the garments have been printed, they are put through a large, 1000º conveyor dryer that cures the ink. (in about a minute)
The shirts are ready to wear the moment they are through the dryer.
This process is repeated for every area of the garment that you want to have printed.
Back, Sleeve, Pocket Location etc
If you have a company logo with Pantone specific color profile,
or if you just have an idea - we can handle it!
We use Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator, CorelDraw, and Corel PhotoPaint.
Between these 4 monster programs we have the ability to scan, open, draw, adjust,
color separate and finalize virtually any piece of art, GIF, TIFF, AI, Vector, .Jpg,.CDR etc!
However; we are not a huge fan of artwork brought in on Microsoft works or Power Point.
It's possible to work with these file formats, but we invent colorful language in the art department if we have to do it.
We keep copies of your artwork on file in case tragedy strikes and your copy is lost or damaged.
Unfortunately, without prior agreement, we are no longer able to print shirts supplied by our customers.
We like to use 100% cotton, top quality, garments because they behave.
Garments designed for screen printing are shipped with a line ironed down the middle
to help align the shirt on the press assuring your design is straight and centered.
Shirts that have been worn before, washed in detergent, packed in a suitcase and are wrinkled have lost that line, and are difficult to print properly.
Polyester will melt in the dryer.
Deodorant, detergent, perfume and other alien substances (like Patchouli and dog hair) stink, discolor, burn and react weirdly when exposed to extreme temperatures.
T-shirts with 9-foot straps around the waist tangle in the gears that run the belt dryer and set stuff on fire. (is it weird that we really have to say this)?
Occasionally we mess up and a smudge of ink gets on a garment or a shirt is printed on the back instead of the front.
We'd like to be able to replace it and fulfill your order as originally agreed.
We are unable to do this if we have no access to the supplier.
But, we have a very large selection of catalogs and websites to peruse from and can offer a variety of styles.
And here's the big surprise.
Our prices are usually cheaper than you can buy retail because we research to find the lowest price for the shirt you've chosen, so it saves you money!
